Maycock's Point is most likely named after one or more members of a
Maycock family. "Marriages of Some Virginia Residents 1607-1800"
(privately published, 1964) lists a marriage between Sarah Maycock
and George Pace (n.d.), "Virginia Settlers and English Adventurers"
by Noel Currer-Briggs shows a Nov. 3, 1620 Bill of Complaint
which mentions one Peter Maycock. I would suggest your patron start
researching early Virginia families. Hope this helps.
