i would contact this fella,  no relation. He is, after all, in the same
state,and deals in antiquarian maps. He might have some ideas.

Then again, these are depository materials and are technically, or
officially,  not the property of Vanderbilt. Should they first be offered
tothe National Archives or Coast Survey for their digital files?
