JOB DESCRIPTION:
Description: This position will be responsible for the performance of
various technical work in the development and support of the City of
Gastonia's Enterprise GIS. This individual will assist in the design,
implementation, maintenance and administration of GIS databases for the
City's GIS which includes responsibilities for AM/FM and an Oracle 7 based
Infratstructure Management System (IMS). The GIS Analyst will be expected
to write programs to help automate data collection & processing procedures
and to facilitate spatial analysis of existing datasets. This position will
assist in the implementation and management of an enterpise ArcStorm database.
This position will assist in the integration of external data sources,
particularly AutoCAD and Intergraph/MGE based data, into an enterprise
ArcStorm / Oracle GIS database. This position will provide guidance,
education and support in the use of GIS software and databases to multiple
departments within the City.
Technical Requirements: Candidates should possess an extensive knowledge of
GIS data processing principles, tools and techniques and thier application
in a utility and/or municipal environment. Skill and ability in the
development and maintenance of GIS data using ESRI GIS software products.
Skill and ability in the development, implementation and support of GIS
specific programs in AML, Avenue, Visual Basic or C languages. Ability to
integrate Oracle Databases and ESRI GIS data sources and products.
Education/Experience: Min. educational requirement of a Bachelors Degree in
GIS, Geography, Planning, Computer Science or related field and a minimum of
three years practical experience in the application of GIS in a utility or
municipal environment or any equivalent combination. Strong technical
experience with ESRI GIS products is preferred. Formal training in GIS,
GPS and related technologies is a plus.
Other Requirements: The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
as well as the ability to work with and/or train less technically
knowledgeable staff. The ability to work with a variety of personalities on
group projects.

Location: Gastonia, NC (20 minutes west of Charlotte)

Salary Range: $28,054.00 - $46,540.00
