Dear Colleagues,

I am not sure about the policy of getting aerial photos from China at this point, but you can definitely get some smaller scale topographic maps or cloud-free high resolution satellite imagery over this area.

Here are some data examples. With only two steps, you can see all results:
1) Click on this link: http://www.cartographic.com/xq/asp/navmode.c/qx/index.asp (or go to www.cartographic.com then click on the "search by coordinate" mode)
2) Enter the coordinate: 119.5E; 39.82N; radius = 10 mils then hit "Zoom to"

You can then select from search results the products you want. For example, satellite imagery(IKONOS 2001 has one scene over this area, SceneID: 2000000150903R01, 0% cloud cover) or topos (including the China 1:1mil topos); Pls note that, after select the IKONOS(2001 scenes), you can see the metadata of this scene as well as the preview of the imagery. And because this scene falls into a special zone and GeoEye did not provide the price for this zone, you would not be able to check-out on line.)

From Google Earth you can also find the Satellite Imagery over this area. Just fly to "beidaihehaibin", you will find the 2007 or 2006 imagery with 0-10% cloud cover.

Hope it helps.

Best regards,
Xiaohong

Hello,

I think your patron will be very lucky if they can find aerial photography of any part of China, except perhaps of Hong Kong or Maccau. This is because all topographic mapping and aerial photography by PRC government and its agencies, or same collected by businesses, within the PRC is restricted and its distribution strictly controlled.

Instead I suggest they consider purchasing high resolution satellite remote sensing imagery (Ikonos, Quickbird, SPOT5, World View 1 etc).
 The
resolution of some of these sensors is <0.5m. However, postional accuracy without GCPs will be of the order of 15m at best. The only problem you may have is with atmosphere clarity - much of the atmosphere over China often being smoggy or dusty for much of the time.

Good luck!
