Hi, Folks,
I'm a biology grad student in U of alaska Fairbanks, facing a challenge for
which I believe some of you have a good solution.
What I'm trying to do is layering 2 graphic files, habitat map and the
home range boundary of my study animals. Habitat maps are traced from USGS
maps and aerial photos with Zoom Transfer Scope. I have an access to a
scanner. The home range boundary files are strings of UTM coordinates, can be
written in either ASCII or binary format by a program called CALHOME.
Yes, I can enter UTM points to the habitat map manually one by one, but the
boundaries are curved lines like topographic contour lines, consists of
several hundreds of points for each line. It would take awful lots of time to
do it and the accuracy of results are questionable. I could bother you with
further detail but I stop here.
Any suggestions and/or infos about programs which can do the job are
appreciated. My e-mail address is: [log in to unmask]
Thanks for your time and space.
