The Senior Government Information/Microforms Librarian reports to the Head,
Reference Services for reference and library instruction duties and to the
Collection Development Coordinator for collection development/management
and faculty liaison responsibilities.  Responsible for supervising the
activities of the Government Information/Microforms department. Serves as
the Regional Librarian for the Federal Depository Library Program.
Oversees the Libraries’ government information web pages.  Serves at the
Libraries’ main reference desk; participates in virtual reference;
participates in the Libraries’ instruction program; provides collection
development services, and serves as a faculty liaison for one or more
subject disciplines. Works to meet tenure and promotion requirements.

Summary of Duties:

E35%  Supervises the management of the Federal/Regional Depository Library
collection, including supervision of technical processing, collection
maintenance, and establishing and implementing policies and procedures;
oversees development and maintenance of the Libraries’ Federal Agency web
page; represents the Libraries’ at local, regional, and national
professional meetings; supervises four para-professionals and two graduate
assistants.

E20%  Serves as a selector and faculty liaison for one or more subject
disciplines; reviews approval programs; participates in liaison group
activities; and maintains collection development policy statements for
appropriate subject areas.

E15%  Provides general and specialized Reference and information services
at a combined general Reference/government documents desk (may work nights
and weekends on a rotating basis); develops library instructional
materials; designs subject-based Web pages; provides virtual reference.

E10%  Participates as a member of a Reference department committee as
assigned.

E15%  Works to meet requirements for promotion and tenure.

E05%  Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:
MLS from an accredited ALA library school; reference experience in an
academic or legal setting; detailed knowledge of federal depository
guidelines and practices; knowledge of print, electronic, and Internet
government and reference information resources; knowledge of microcomputer
applications; ability to create Web documents; ability to work well with
colleagues and diverse clientele; excellent interpersonal, oral and written
communication, and organizational skills; works to meet promotion and
tenure requirements.

Preferred:
Instruction experience with government information; supervisory experience.

Salary and Benefits:

$38,500 per fiscal year minimum, dependent upon qualifications and
experience; 12 month, tenure track appointment; excellent benefits.
