ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF LIBRARY SERVICES
Francis Harvey Green Library
(Manager 200 level)
West Chester University invites applications and nominations for the
position of Associate Director of Library Services. We seek an
enthusiastic, creative librarian who understands the traditional role of
the academic library and the challenges and opportunities presented by
new information technology. Under the leadership of the Director of
Library Services, the Associate Director manages the libraries Public
Services Division and collaborates with University faculty, staff, and
students to fulfill the mission of the Library.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Associate Director:
Manages the 10 FTE faculty and 17.5 FTE staff of the Public Services
Division of the West Chester University Libraries which includes:
Reference ( in-person and electronic reference services, information
literacy, collection development, Library Web pages); Collections (
Government Documents, Instructional Media Center, Music Library, and
Special Collections ); Access Services ( Circulation and Reserves,
Interlibrary Loan, and public computer workstations and printing )
Administers the Library in the Director's absence Assists the Director
in reviewing, formulating and amending Library policies, procedures, and
plans Leads the Public Services Division in providing user-centered
services and facilities Directs the development, implementation, and
assessment of new and existing library public services

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
M.L.S. from A.L.A. accredited library school or the equivalent Minimum
of three years administrative experience in an academic or research
library Evidence of excellent communication skills Evidence of a strong
public service orientation Evidence of the ability to create strong
working relationships within the library and between the library and the
university faculty, students, and staff.
Knowledge of the application of new library technology to public
services.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's or Doctoral degree in an academic or professional discipline
Evidence of participation in professional organizations Experience with
collective bargaining agreements

Salary range: $54,882 to $73,177. Full-time, twelve-month administrative
appointment. Applicants must successfully complete the interview process
to be considered a finalist.
