        Take a look at the first volume of Aaron L. Shalowitz, Shore and
Sea Boundaries with Special Reference to the Interpretation of Coast and
Geodetic Survey Data (GPO, 1962-64).  It includes legends for Coast
Survey and Coast and Geodetic Survey Charts, starting with the first
one, which was published in 1844.
