The U.S. Geological Survey has current openings for student and
full-time staff members within the Middleton, Wisconsin Data Center
(MDC).  The MDC manages multiple regional and national data warehouse
systems that organize and present environmental data to the scientific
community and the public.



We deploy cutting edge technology, primarily Oracle-based.  Candidates
must have at least some of the following skill sets for applying for
these positions:



-         Familiarity with natural resource data and related scientific
methodologies

-         Familiarity with geospatial technologies

-         Familiarity with database technologies, especially Oracle

-         Familiarity with programming, especially PL/Sql or Java

-         Familiarity with data warehouse industry best practices

-         Familiarity with web-based information delivery systems

-         Willingness to adapt to new technologies and methodologies in
data management



We anticipate openings in the November 2006 to June 2007 time frame.
Student positions have the potential to lead to full time positions
within the MDC.
