Just to provide more information on the debate about the value
of the Canada Map Office depository program, I looked through
the "New and Revised Map Lists" for 1998 and got these counts
for what was produced:
 
40 revised 1:50,000 paper sheets
6  new 1:50,000 paper sheets (all pretty far north, of course)
0  1:250,000 (although there seems to be one on the 1/99 list)
4  fancy new indexes
1  topical map (36th Parliament)
137 new 1:50,000 Tyvek sheets
6 revised 1:50,000 Tyvek sheets
 
All we got, of course, were the 4 index sheets and the 1 topical
map.
 
Also, we didn't seem to have received a couple of the Map Lists,
although I suppose they could have been misrouted here in the
library. I got them from the World of Maps web site (Acrobat
format). (Please don't ask me the exact  URL;  I can't find this
again at their web site:  www.worldofmaps.com )
 
Also, we started getting the fancier looking Map Lists in
September.  I notice that these don't list the Tyvek maps (which
we were never entitled to, even before they dropped the
1:50,000s, and which we don't want).  The Tyvek maps, however,
are listed on the Acrobat Map Lists available on the web (that I
can no longer find).
