Dear Chris
The National Library of Australia has been using a gmd since it first
started using USMARC/MARC to display our carto-bibliographic data, back
in
1980. I think the term : cartographic material has only come into use
in
the last couple of years. Our collection numbers around 600 000 modern
maps,
small compared to the BL and LC but the largest map collection in
Australia.
You can view our records online through our website : www.nla.gov.au,
and
follow the prompts from the home page, starting with "Our catalogue". A
MARC view of the records is also possible. If that does not answer your
query about the 245 field and its punctuation, please contact me
offline.
Yours sincerely
Maura O'Connor
