Interactive Multimedia presentation of the Territorial Evolution
                            of Canada

An interactive multimedia package of the changes of the political
boundaries of Canada is available for the Macintosh and soon for
the IBM-PC compatible computers (the latter is at the beta testing
stage). The changes to Canada's political boundaries unfold through
the use of electronic maps and graphic displays. The package was
developed based on map animation techniques and the hypermedia concept.

The package contains maps of Canada, the provinces and the territories as
they appeared at various times, as well as desriptions of the events that
led to the boundary changes. All maps are integrated with multimedia
information (text, still/animated images and sound).

Through the use of animation, the user can control motion pictures
(i.e. view, pause, restart, and progress map-by-map), and reconstruct
the evolution of individual provinces and territories. The user can
also consult text on events and access a glossary on related information.

The interactive multimedia package was developed by the Canada Centre
of Mapping, EMR Canada in cooperation with Sanctuary Woods, a multimedia
Ottawa based company.

The package is distributed by
