Subject: Re: MAPS-L: Term for depth and relief together

I agree that the term should be relief. I turned to Relief in my
Dictionary of Geography, by F. J. Monkhouse, 1965, and he confirmed my
thinking. But, he also has an entry for Relative Relief, being "the
relation of the altitudes of the highest and lowest points of land in any
area, sometimes called local relief or available relief.

So, relief is the word you want but you may want to preface it to make it
global relief or eastern Pacific--South American relief.
