I just called Kinko's Copier service in the La Jolla Village
Square center and asked what their large format copier fees
are. They charge $1 sq.ft. if they run the machine and
fifty cents sq.ft. if customer operates; they have a xerox
3050. So I guess a 36"X48" size copy would be $12 if they
run it and $6 if the customer operates the machine? (I've
always been dumb in math, but that's what my calculator is
telling me.) This is what they're charging throughout San
          Diego.

I am amazed at these prices. Before the CDT Ozalid was
installed down here I sometimes drove to this Kinko's and
copied maps & charts. In those days a 3'X4' copy was $2.99
for self-service and less for smaller sheets of paper. Boy.
Have our customers been getting a great deal @ $2 per copy
for UC people and $3 per copy for non-affiliates.
Unfortunately for all, at the date of this writing the SIO
Library no longer has an engineering copier (our Ozalid
crashed a few months ago and CDT [our vendor] hauled it
outta here.) (Our facetious jokes about dumping this
unreliable machine off our pier to estabish an artificial
reef I think are now being seriously considered; except
we're certain the California State Coastal Commission will
prosecute whoever tries that without their consent.) - PML
