The cartography lab in the department of Geography at the University of
Alabama has established a site for scanned copies of current and historical
maps. The historical map section contains many maps that are generally
unavailable and a lot are one of a kind. These maps have been obtained from
the University's Special Collection and the State of Alabama's Archives.
Most of the maps from the State of Alabama are restricted and are not
available for inspection. It is the intent of the project to scan all the
maps that are in the Special Collection and the State Archives so as to make
them availible to all.

The address of the site is http://alabamamaps.ua.edu
The contact person for this project is Craig Remington and he can be reached
at 205-348-1536 or [log in to unmask]
