Please share this job announcement: We are hiring for a 2009-10
tenure-track position in GIScience and geovisualization, with a
specialty in urban applications of GIS. The Geography Department at
California State University, Long Beach, is a productive, engaged, and
friendly department offering bachelor's and master's degrees in
geography, an urban studies certificate, and two GIS certificates. CSULB
is located in the dynamic Los Angeles/Long Beach metropolitan area and
is well connected with the many surrounding municipalities and agencies
through grant and contract work, service-learning projects, and our many

seeks tenure-track *Assistant Professor *in *GIScience and
Geovisualization* with research specialization in *urban applications of
GIS*. Secondary interests in data visualization, geospatial
web/interactive mapping, programming, map use/design, spatial cognition,
emergency preparedness/disaster response, land use planning, housing,
transportation or migration strongly valued. Appointment begins 23
August 2009. Ph.D. required by start of appointment. The successful
candidate should be able to teach lower division methods, introductory
and advanced GIScience courses, including urban applications, and
courses in candidate’s area of specialization. A strong commitment to
high quality teaching, academic research, and extramural funding is
