Dear Mapsters,

Five years ago or so, because of reorganization elsewhere in the Library,
jobs in the Map Division were frozen, and we were unable to fill openings
then. In fact, some openings in which interviews were in progress were
frozen in mid-interview, as staff from the reorganized/downsized divisions
were moved into the Map Division.

After several years, we are now gettting back up to speed, and reopening
the two closed jobs. Nancy and I are, needless to say, thrilled.

We invite those new to map librarianship to consider the job opening below,
and those with a few more years on them...to consider the redesigned
Assistant Chief job as posted by me, a month ago or so. Both of these jobs
now require computer expertise, and we see both these persons filling these
jobs as helping to push and pull the Map Division into the 21st century,
albeit in a nineteenth century building. Well, almost. [1911]

Please follow the directions below and do let us hear from you...Nancy and
I will be ever so grateful, as we would each like a weekend out of this
place sometime before we retire! With 4 map librarians on duty instead of
2, we might just be able to pull that off!
