GIS BRASIL 99 - The V Congress and Exhibition for Latin America
Geoprocessing Users, will take place in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, between the
19th and the 23rd of July.

THEME
Under the theme "Geotechnologies for a Better World", GIS Brasil 99 will
stage about 280 papers, in the form of oral and poster presentations.
Great emphasis will be given to the Show Cases, real experiences as told by
Geoprocessing users on the most varied applications, such as tourism,
network management, environment, agriculture, marketing, municipal
administration, telecommunications and a lot more. Additional activities
include workshops, discussion forums and meetings for users and products
resselers (confirmed IDRISI, Spring, ESDAS, RADARSAT).

APPLICATION CYCLES
The APPLICATION CYCLES are a major innovation for 99. These are 8-hour long
activities intended to address the state-of-the-art of four broad
geoapplications. They will include oral presentations, case studies and
demonstrations of solutions accomplished by the industry. The cycles are:
- GEOTELECOM   Geotechnologies in Telecommunications
- 2nd PRECISION FARM SHOW
- GEOBUSINESS   Solutions in Geomarketing and Business
- PLANETAGEO   Geoprocessing for the Environment

COURSES
As in previous years, GIS BRASIL 99 will offer 20 courses, grouped into
three categories: Fundamentals, Technology Applications and Complementary
and Support Techniques.

GEOTECHNOLOGIES EXIBITION
The Geotechnologies Exhibition will operate in parallel with the event, in
an area of 1800 m2, where the latest developments and releases of the
industry, in terms of software, hardware, solutions and services, will be on
display.
