Gene,

I decided to respond to your questions, and the subsequent
apologetic email, in two ways. First, I think you may find
this listserv supportive of your GIS-related questions and
may find a couple of people here very knowledgable in this
regard and therefore potentially helpful. So, maybe it would
be a wise thing to at least give MAPS-L a ride for awhile to
see if it is useful to your needs. Folks using this listserv
are NOT strictly dealing with the non-digital environment
(i.e., paper maps, aerial photos, atlases and the like) but
are very much in tune with, talk about, need information
for, and use materials in the electronic environment,
including GIS. So, good luck on the possibility of receiving
some useful answers, or even further questions, from
colleagues on MAPS-L.

Also, if I may take a moment to let you know, as co-editor
of a new journal, that I found your question about using GIS
for fraud detection in government to be very interesting. So
it follows that I ask, would you be interested in writing an
article based on any results that you receive about this
question on this particular topic and have it published in
the Journal of Map and Geography Libraries in the near
future? Please contact me offline at:

and my co-editor partner, Mary L. Larsgaard, at:

and lets talk possibilities and specifics.

Thanks again and good luck!

Sincerely,

Mr. Paige G. Andrew
