Not *too* an unusual request! We have here a dissected-in-20-pieces and
mounted-on-cloth copy of No.2 (maximum engraved area approx. 30 [N-S] by
24.5 [E-W] inches). As no negative or colour transparency has yet been
made of this map in our Map Room your client will have to discuss costs,
time factor, reproduction fee, etc. directly with our Picture Library
(e-mail: [log in to unmask]).

For No.1 there are several copies recorded in at least the Geological
Society of London, the Natural History Museum [London], and the National
Museum of Wales [Cardiff]. This information is taken from : 'William Smith
(1769-1839) : a bibliography of his published writings, maps and geological
sections, printed and lithographed' by Joan M. Eyles, in : Journal of the
Soc. for the Bibliogr. of Nat. Hist., April 1969, 5(2), 87-109.

Yours sincerely
Francis Herbert (Curator of Maps, RGS-IBG)
