Dear Sirs and Ladies,

By the end of 2002, the Louisiana Geological Survey
plans to have published 1:100,000 scale geologic maps
for the Crowley, DeRidder, Lake Charles, and Ville
Platte 1:100,000 quadrangles. (The DeRidder and Ville
Platte maps could be finished by the end of July.)
All of these maps illustrate very significant revisions
in the Quaternary geology of Southwest Louisiana.

The Baton Rouge 1:100,000 scale geologic map has already
been published. For the Baton Rouge 1:100,000 geologic
map, see "Publications" at:

Additional information can be found in "The Value of

The new Quaternary and Pliocene geologic units that are
introduced in these geologic maps can be seen in the
