Subject: Map Cataloging Work Area

To all map catalogers,

Do you have any recommendations for your "ideal" work area? We're looking
for ways to improve our map cataloger's work area so that it is more
comfortable, efficient, etc. Currently we have a computer stand and a desk
set up next to each other. The computer is used for cataloging as well as
e-mail, word processing, ordering, etc. The desk, of course, provides a
large flat surface, but is also used as a desk for holding paperwork. I'd
appreciate recommendations or examples of design and arrangement of an
integrated work area for cataloging sheet maps and computer files in an
online environment. (Someone else deals with atlases.)

Thanks,

Kathy Stroud, Map/GIS Librarian
