Have I stumbled into another lost cause? I called PC Globe using the
number provided on the original box, only to awaken some sleepy soul
who said this was not the PC Globe phone number. Next I tried our
acquisitions department, who found a new number (800) 255-2789 in
some magical book that lists everyone's number. This call produced a
recording saying the number was disconnected and that there was no
futher information. Then I called the "800" operator, who could find
no listing for PC Globe. Is this company still up and running? Does
anyone know a "good" number to contact them?

We are attempting to upgrade our various mapping programs here and to
locate new programs. This is due in part to the fact that I am
chair of an IFLA working group that is compiling an international
directory of PC based mapping programs. We are interested in
identifying programs world-wide as well as in the U.S., obtaining
copies for examination, and developing a guide so that intelligent
choices can be made by users.

This working group was established at the IFLA-Barcelona meeting this
past August 1993. IFLA meets in Havana this August 1994, and in
Istanbul in 1995. We hope to have gathered enough data to procede
with this directory by the 1995 meeting. Any information on PC based
mapping programs, comments on their use, and contacts with interested
producers who would like to be considered would be very much
appreciated.

Please send your comments via Maps-L, so that everyone can benefit
from the discovery of new ways to use their PCs.
