JOB DESCRIPTION:
 
Sarasota County Government seeks a strong GIS professional for
leadership, management and coordination of all GIS resources and
activities within the County.  The selected candidate will: Prepare
and support GIS budget initiatives; acquire and allocate GIS
resources;  manage GIS project activities; manage a GIS training
program; and establish application development procedures, standards,
and priorities.  Responsibilities include coordination of GIS with
other functions of the IT department; management of GIS hardware,
software, and services procurements; system implementation and
testing activities; system upgrades and version control; enforcement
of system administration procedures, and the establishment and
execution of system documentation standards and procedures.
Candidate will also coordinate with all participating departments
to insure management of all aspects of an enterprise GIS database:
establish database development priorities; scope development efforts;
manage GIS database development, projects and contracts; oversee
preparation and update of database designs and specifications, and
establish and execute system documentation standards and procedures.
MIN QUALS:  A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or
university in Business or Public Administration, Computer Science
or a related field & 5 years of progressively responsible professional
experience in information echnology systems analysis, project
management, computer software development, communication technology,
 
and/or large shared data base systems.  Progressively responsible
professional experience as described herein may be substitued on
a year-for-year basis for the required college degree. Closing
