Does anyone know where or if an official thesaurus or otherwise
controlled vocabulary exists for GIS (Geographic Information Systems)?
I'm tyring to come up with a reasonable way to index and organize a
large stack of URLs I've been collecting. I was hoping that I could find
some previous work, but so far my search of the net (and our local
library) has not been successful. The subject seems to be just a little
too esoteric for most indexers. BTW, I'm not a librarian by training so
if I sound incredibly naive about this approach, that's why.

You can email me directly and I'll summarize.

TIA,
- Bill Thoen
