Hi Everyone,

The Cartographic Users Advisory Council (CUAC) met last week in Washington
D.C. CUAC is comprised of members representing ALA Map and Geography
Roundtable and the Government Documents Roundtable, Geoscience Information
Society, North American Cartographic Information Society, SLA Geography and
Map Division, and Western Association of Map Libraries.

We now have 14 federal agencies participating and hope to add others. With
a very full day, we were able to hear reports from 10 of the 14. We felt
that the meeting was very informative and successful.

We are working on the minutes but thought it might be helpful to explain why
it takes a while...
Each Council member takes minutes from an agency report. Those minutes are
given to the CUAC chair or co-chairs, who listen to tapes for content and
accuracy. The minutes are then returned to the Council members for any
changes, then forwarded to the agency representatives for their review.
Then the minutes are distributed and published.

In addition, we plan to publish highlights of our business meeting.

Until then,
Janet Collins and Bruce Obenhaus, Co-chairs

Ps Next year's Co-chairs will be Mike Furlough and Dan Seldin!
