The Princeton University Library, one of the world's most respected
research institutions, serves a diverse community of 6,600 students and
1,100 faculty members with more than 6 million printed volumes, 5

central library and 15 specialized libraries range from ancient papyri
and incunabula to the most advanced electronic databases and digital
collections. The Library employs a dedicated and knowledgeable staff of
more than 300 professional and support personnel, complemented by a

Description : Princeton University Library seeks an energetic and
forward-thinking library professional to lead the Engineering Library, a
state of the art facility and the focal point of the newly-constructed
Friend Center for Engineering Education. The head of the Engineering
Library has primary responsibility for the administration of the library
and provides vision and leadership for a team of four support staff.
This librarian develops strong print and digital collections in all
areas of engineering and provides innovative and effective user services
in support of teaching and research in the School of Engineering and
Applied Sciences. Responsibilities also include providing reference
services and group and individual instruction in the use of library
resources for all levels of users, and working with faculty to provide
library instruction support for courses and projects. Excellent
communication skills are a high priority. The Librarian works closely
with faculty and students of the School's six departments and the
Princeton Institute for Science and Technology of Materials (PRISM).
These departments cover both traditional areas of engineering and
computer science and newer initiatives including materials, medical and
financial applications. The Engineering Librarian reports to the Head of
the Science and Technology Libraries and is a member of the Special
Libraries Department.

Qualifications:
Required: MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent
combination of education and professional experience. Undergraduate
degree in engineering or a related area and/or relevant academic or
special library experience. At least two years of professional work in
the physical sciences or engineering. Demonstrated successful leadership
and planning ability. Experience with developing print and digital
collections and managing an acquisitions budget. Knowledge of the
engineering and computer science literature including print and
electronic reference sources. Excellent communication and interpersonal
skills. Ability to set priorities and work independently. Demonstrated
success reaching out to and working collaboratively with all levels of
users and staff. Enthusiasm for planning and implementing creative and
effective user services. Ability to work effectively in a rapidly
changing environment.

Compensation and Benefits : Compensation will be competitive and
commensurate with experience and accomplishments. Twenty-four (24)
vacation days a year, plus eleven (11) paid holidays. Annuity program
(TIAA/CREF), group life insurance, health coverage insurance, disability
insurance, and other benefits are available.
