There is (or was) a wonderful 4 or 5' diameter stainless steel
sculpture/globe/fountain in Cambridge, MA (near Kendall Square, if I
remember correctly) made by Joe Davis about 10-15 years ago, when he was
artist-in-residence at MIT's Center for Advanced Visual Studies,
depicting the planet 'Joeputer' in exquisite detail and relief - at it's
dedication, he held forth in booming wine-enhanced Ginsberg-esque poetry
for over an hour on the customs and natural history of the various
mythical countries and continents. His signature is an archipelago in
the Southern hemisphere. I hope it's still there.
