Google's 'My Maps' is fantastic as well. The first step is to log in (or
create) a google account. Here are some instructions for getting started
on creating your map from there:
http://local.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=68480

Those instructions tell you how to add placemarks manually but you can
also search for an existing address, click on the result, and click save
to my maps. It's quite simple. I created one to help visitors to
Vanderbilt find a place to eat within walking distance:

Just wanted to offer another option.
Hope that's helpful

This site works pretty well for that sort of thing:
http://www.batchgeocode.com/

He could create something in a spreadsheet and then paste the code in to
the window. Once you read the instructions, it's pretty simple.

Also, if he has a Google account, there's a map gadget available. Go to
Google Docs, create a spreadsheet, then Insert --> Gadget --> Maps -->
Map

The upside to this one is if you go to Share --> Publish as a web page
(and also Share --> Share with the world), the mash-up can be posted on
a website.

Hope this helps...
