The Norman B. Leventhal Map Center seeks an experienced and dynamic
professional to serve as its next Executive Director.  The Executive
Director reports to the Chairman of the Board of the Map Center and the
President of the Boston Public Library and is responsible for directing and
executing the Map Centerâ??s mission and fund-raising program.

The Executive Director leads a team of four (4) full time employees,
oversees an operating budget of $1.2 million, has a restricted endowment of
approximately eight ($8) million, and is responsible for developing and
implementing fund-raising programs to support the mission and on-going
priorities of the Map Center at the Copley Square Main Library as well as
the outreach programs at the twenty seven (27) branch libraries in Boston.

Other duties include managing the conservation, cataloguing and digitizing
of the extensive Map Collection housed at the Copley Square Main Library;
overseeing the Map Centerâ??s annual acquisition program; designing and
managing the education and outreach programs; directing the design, content
development and execution of a creative web site and educational materials;
providing administrative support for an independent Board of Directors, a
Board of Review made up of leading academics and individuals in the field,
and other advisory groups such as educational advisory committees; planning
and leading the individual major giving programs as well as trusts, estates
and gift planning; managing the corporate and foundation programs, the Map
Center Annual Fund, and prospect research, donor relations and stewardship
efforts.
