Aloha Darlene,

This topic has been brought up before on Maps-L. It was interesting to see the different numbers that we would come up with, and the various methods of calculating it, as well. Please see the Maps-L Archives for these discussions.

Here is my two cents for today -

According to the WAML Tool Box, the number of 1:24,000 maps is 53,252. For more details, please go to: http://www.waml.org/maptools.html#toponum

Additionally, D.K. Humenik,a kind fellow at USGS, provided me an unpublished list that he had compiled that gives total numbers of 7.5min quads by State. If anyone is interested in a copy, please email me.

Aloha,
Ross
