Job Title: Map & GIS Librarian
State:  Massachusetts
City:   Lexington
Position Summary:
Provide reliable, efficient, and effective library reference and
research in support of Lincoln Laboratory research, with an emphasis on
map and GIS resources. Assist in the development and maintenance of a
Laboratory GIS/imagery server and web interface for use by the
Laboratory research community. Work with members of the Knowledge
Services team and others within the Laboratory to create, manage &
deliver library products and resources to end users. Provide technical
assistance, training and support to other Knowledge Services staff and
to the Laboratory at large as needed. Assist Information Metadata &
Management Services Team with library web applications as required.

Primary Duties:
*Interview subject matter experts to understand their research/business
issues and devise information products to meet those needs.
*Provide extensive reference work and content organization for
Laboratory research community, particularly in mapping & GIS subject areas.
*Act as liaison to various special interest groups with the Laboratory,
providing information support and training as required.
*Manage collection development, organization, and maintenance of our gis
& map collections.
*Assist in the development and maintenance of a GIS services delivery
system and web interface for use within the Laboratory.
*Work with to our Research & Awareness services team to maintain our
overall level of research excellence by providing general reference
services.
*Develop customized research & alert products to answer clients'
specific topical research questions.
*Assist Information Metadata & Management Services in managing and
developing library web tools.
*Keep up with emerging trends in GIS and other library-related
information technologies.

Requirements:
*Master of Science in Library & Information Science with demonstrated
experience in Map/GIS libarianship required.
*A minimum of 3-5 years experience in reference librarianship,
preferably in an R&D environment.
*Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to
effectively convey and explain information clearly and concisely,
including proven training and presentation skills required.
*Excellent collaboration skills with an ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with management, researchers,
and colleagues required.
*Demonstrated experience with common GIS applications required.
*Facility with Web 2.0 technologies, e.g. blogs, social bookmarking,
wikis. & web development tools
preferred.
*Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
