Lee,

We have been using the Epson Expression Line for five or more years now
and though they are pricey, they have never failed us. We have the
original models (Expression 1640XL) and a couple of the newer models
(10000XL) and none have ever gone south on us.

They have a bed that will do 13 X 19 and can have optional document
feeder or transparency adapter which does an excellent job with negative
film.

We use them in our Digital Resource Lab www.lib.auburn.edu/drl and in
our Digital Projects section (here you can see some of the work we've
done) http://diglib.auburn.edu/browse.html .

Does anyone have a good flat bed scanner that they can
recommend for
a map library? I'm looking for something that will take items larger
than
11"x17", and will hitch up to the network so we can quickly send a
color copy
to another employee via e-mail. Any suggestions for makes and models,
and
happy stories to tell?
Even more important, does anyone have some bad tales to tell,
and
warnings against good looking products that later on turn around and
bite you
on the gnomon?
