Many of you may already be aware of and even use geospatial PDF or
GeoPDF files to disseminate your completed maps with intelligence and
georeferencing.

In any case, we at Avenza are very pleased to announce that it is now
possible (with MAPublisher) to take a geospatial PDF or GeoPDF and open
it in Illustrator in such a manner that the georeferencing, attributes
and layers will remain intact and available in the
MAPublisher/Illustrator environment for both onward editing and
cartography AND export to any of the many supported GIS data formats.
So yes, what this means, is that you can take a spatially-rich PDF and
convert it to a shapefile or many other GIS data format. This is a very
powerful proposition in our opinion.
