     Closure of the British Library reading rooms over the holiday period
     --------------------------------------------------------------------


     The British Library closes for the holidays tomorrow evening (Friday
     24th) at 5 pm.

     The reading rooms will reopen on Wednesday, 5th January.  If you plan
     to visit in that first week it might be prudent to check first that
     everything is functioning normally.  The easiest way is to look on the
     Library's website <http://www.bl.uk>.

     Alternatively, the Map Library can be contacted by email <[log in to unmask]>
     or by phoning the Maps Reading Room: 0171 412 7702 [international: +44
     171 412 7702].

     Finally, may we wish you all a peaceful and contented holiday season,
