Hello,

Many of you have already seen announcements regarding the Map &
Geographic Information Collections in Transition meeting which will be
held in Washington, D.C. at the Library of Congress Mumford Room, May
12-13, 2005. Information on the conference and the registration form are
available at: http://cuac.wustl.edu/cuac.htm. The early bird
registration deadline is March 15.

While looking at the Library of Congress web site, I noticed
that there will be a free concert at the Library of Congress the night
of May 12. The concert will be a performance by the Akademie fur alte
Musik Berlin. They will be playing:

Veracini: Overture no. 6
Vivaldi: Concerto for Strings, RV 156
Vivaldi: Concerto for Two Violins, RV 533
Geminiani: Concerto Grosso no. 12 in D Minor
Bach: Orchestral Suite no. 1, BWV 1066
Bach: Concerto for Two Violins, BWV 1043

Tickets are free, but have to be reserved. John Hebert inquired about
the event and ticketing and has told me that the Music Division would be
willing to hold up to 50 tickets

for the group until March 30. The Division needs the names of people who
want tickets before that date.

If you are interested in participating in an informal social event
(walking to dinner at a restaurant near LC and attending the concert),
please e-mail me before March 25 to express your interest. Tickets for
up to 50 people are free if requested through me ([log in to unmask]).
After March 30, the tickets will be released to the public and will have
to be obtained (for a processing fee) through Ticketmaster. I am looking
forward to seeing many of you at the meeting, and hope that you will
consider participating in this social event as well. Linda Zellmer
