Subject: FW: WAML Program

Attached you will find information on a revised schedule for the WAML Fall
Meeting at the Library of Congress. Some changes may be made to this
schedule to deal with the field trip to National Archives. Linda Zellmer

> Linda,
>
> Following is a revised version of the WAML Program.
>
> The unfortunate reason for the revision is that as a result of the
> shooting deaths of
> the two Capitol Police Officers, the Library has implemented new and very,
> very
> stringent entry requirements. As the cover part of the new program
> describes,
> public entrance to the Madison Building is now restricted to just one
> entrance, and
> everyone must go through a metal detector and each bag is thoroughly
> checked.
> Consequently, it is taking the normal group of readers waiting to use the
> Madison
> Building thirty to forty minutes to get in the morning, and if we add the
> WAML
> group to that number, the entry time will be even worse. We have
> therefore
> pushed back the starting time for everything to 9:30 in order to give
> everyone a
> chance to get in the building. We were given no advance warning of this
> change,
> and it has really affected the public quite a bit. I have watched the
> entry process
> several mornings this week, and I see no hope of the process becoming
> quicker or
> more efficient prior to your meeting. I hope you can forward this to
> others.

> The public can now use only one entrance to the James Madison Building,

> It is recommended that attendees not bring computers or other
