We in the SIO Library found that using the kind of date due slips
ordinarily afixed inside books is not a good thing to use on maps; the
slips hang up on other maps in drawers and tear when maps are
retrieved or filed. Thus, we went to a stamp maker and had a replica
date-due stamp made. This has worked well; circulation staff just
stamp the back of maps and then stamp the actual due date between the
     lines.

For those of you who do circulate maps, what do you use for a date
due slip? I don't seem to find one that is somewhat
preservation-minded? (I realize that if you really want to not harm
the map, you don't circulate it, but if we can get past that).

     Thanks, Arlyn
