Dennis,

In my opinion, the "digital" part of this label for the A25 subject code
in the G-schedule means that the cartographic material is either online
or in digital form on something like a CD-ROM. Something like digital
elevation models, whether on CD or online, would be an appropriate
candidate. That said, the "digital" aspect usually is not deemed as
important as a topical component, so a given cataloger may opt to
classify using a different subject code than A25 in their call number.

All,

Could someone clarify the usage of A25 (Digital cartographic materials)
as a subject subdivision? Would it be appropriate to use if the map
you’re cataloging is an online resource? I’ve looked through bib.
records in OCLC but haven’t found much to show a pattern.

Thanks,

Dennis
