I have a request from a user who needs to know
about ways (digital) to manage architectural plans,
specifically those held in a city building-
inspection department. He's already done a
little checking with practice of other
cities in his area, and is attending a
conference next week relating to architectural
plans, but would like to know enough to
make a good decision. Has anyone had this
sort of question and if so what was your
answer? This is an interesting situation in
that: a. plans are kept only until one year
after building is constructed, then plans
are tossed (easy for a computer to nudge
you to do that);
       b. plans are generated by many different
construction firms so at least at this point,
it would not be practical to expect the firms
to present the plans in a given digital form.

Thanks for any assistance.
