     Scott,

Are you perchance, volunteering to edit Meridian or the G&M Bulletin?

I am willing to pay the price to have a consistently published journal with
longer, in-depth scholarly and non-scholarly [so I can contribute!] articles.

Underline consistently. No, I have no interest in the Haworth publication. It
is a mystery to us all as to who will be staffing it.

Alice Hudson

Dear colleagues,

It would be disappointing if this became a primary journal or even an
alternative for publishing in our field. The library community has been
trying to rally other disciples to seek alternative forums of scholarly
communication in an attempt to relieve libraries and scholars of the
publishing practices and prices of commercial entities such as Halworth.
I think we (myself included) should set a better example. I hope people
will consider this before volunteering to edit, review or write for the
Halworth journal.

Even with the demise of two of our journals, Meridian and SLA Bulletin, I
still feel we have enough publishing alternatives in the map &
geography librarian field.
