scale DEM

Dear Mapping Colleagues!

East View recently announced the immediate availability of the complete set of 1:50,000 scale Russian military topographic maps of Afghanistan in 1648 sheets form our Minneapolis office (paper or raster). Realizing that not every organization will want to invest in a set of this size, I am pleased to announce the immediate availability of the 1:100,000 scale set of Russian topos of Afghanistan from East View Cartographic (446 sheets, also in paper or raster formats).

East View has also created a complete DEM of Afghanistan derived from the 1:500,000 scale set of topographic maps. Default format is USGS ASCII, 3-arcsecond DEM, Long/Lat/WGS84, grouped into 1x1-degree blocks; but it is also available as DTED-1, etc., and of course just as the 3D composite vectors (hydro, contours, spots).
Samples of this as well as all scales of topos over Kabul (including the 1:10,000 scale Russian military city plan!) are immediately downloadable from our FTP samples site: [log in to unmask]" target="_blank">ftp://samples:[log in to unmask] These samples are low-resolution images; purchased versions are of much higher resolution.

A related new product is our off-the-shelf full-vector dataset of all of Afghanistan, built from 1:1 Million scale Russian topo maps. All names are transliterated.

Best prices on all of the above will be offered through December 31. Please contact me directly for pricing or any other information you require.

Best regards,

Geoffrey Forbes
