As Sue notes, separating maps from their covers can be a problem for
catalogers. In my case, it's double work, because we separate ALL maps from
their covers; the map has its own record and then I (am supposed to at
least) catalog the cover as if it were a book as well. Thus the map
cataloging backlog... <sigh> E

When I started retrospectively cataloging our collection, I was
dismayed to find a lot of maps that had been separated from their
covers (and, hence, from the information that the cataloguer needs.)
Handling these *orphans* was something of a challenge. For the sake
of your cataloguer, I hope you are not planning on discarding the
covers.
