Subject: Reproductions From British Library

Hi, I'm still looking for any copies of the Steel map of Newfoundland,
especially the 1817 edition, but also the 1800 one. I just wanted to
clarify what I posted regarding getting reproductions from the British
Library for maps. They still do it, and the confusion was caused by
receiving a form letter relating to books which states that for
preservation reasons they don't do photocopies (but do microfilms) of
pre-1801 books. The British Library Map Library person to write regarding
reproductions of maps is Lynn Osborne <[log in to unmask]>. Although they
do not house all the maps which are in the British Library, the Map Library
is a good place to start. I'm sure that she'll forward on any requests
that are for maps housed in other departments. They have a wide range of
types of reproductions, too. Having been given her name by Tony Campbell,
we've been in touch regarding reproducing the 1800 edition that they have.
Thanks and do let me know if you run across one of these maps!
