This is the designation from the DMA/AMS Series 1501 (Joint
Operations Graphic) maps, and before that, numerous AMS
alpha-numeric regional series at 1:250,000.  It's just the
International Map of the World 1:1,000,000 designation divided
into 16 smaller units.  If you can't find the 1:250K index, you
might be able to find an AMS/DMA index for Series 1301 (1:1
million, covering the world). The 1:250,000 maps are laid out
within each 1:1 million quad like this:

 5   6   7   8
 9  10  11  12
13  14  15  16

You're going to need to go to a big map collection to look for
one of these indexes. I don't know if any table, paper or
electronic, that correlates the alpha-numeric code with the
sheet name (except for the backs of some of the old AMS indexes
for some of their regional series). Maybe someone else does.

Email me off-list if you have more specific questions or needs,
since I'm not completely sure what you need.
