Job description:
Exciting opportunity for a Senior Level Scientist with Raytheon/EROS
Data Center near Sioux Falls, South Dakota!  EROS is part of the USGS
and is a state-of-the-art scientific facility that archives and
distributes satellite and aerial imagery.  Scientists at EROS study
the changes in our planet with remotely sensed imagery.

The Geospatial Clearinghouse scientist will provide technical support
through the development and implementation of Geospatial
clearinghouses, GIS construction, and training to aid several
countries in Central America and the Caribbean.

Required Qualifications (Education/Experience/Abilities):
The individual must be fluent in Spanish and English. The individual
must be cognizant of cultural differences in the various countries and
possess interpersonal skills that allow him/her to interact
effectively with local experts and non-experts, including experience
in Latin America. Resourcefulness and the ability to supervise
co-workers and to cooperate with a diversity of other projects will be
necessary.  The position calls for foreign travel and may require
fieldwork in remote locations where independence, maturity,
self-reliance, and responsibility are required. Solid written and oral
communication skills with the ability and willingness to train others
are required.  Experience with working in a multi-disciplinary,
multi-tasking environment. Strong computer background in both H/W and
S/W applications.
Education: MS/MA degree in relevant field (geography, computer,
engineering, etc.) with several years of related experience.
Ph.D. degree is preferred.
Experience and special Skills:Familiarity with GIS packages;
Familiarity with geospatial data delivery using the internet,the FGDC
and ISO Clearinghouse and Metadata standards; ability to prepare
training materials and conduct classes for scientists and technicians
in Spanish and English.Programming skills with languages like AML, C,
C++,  FORTRAN,HTML, Avenue. Experience in installing S/W packages on
both UNIX and NT platforms. A record of published research in
peer-reviewed journals is desired as is experience in international
projects development.
