The Western Association of Map Libraries' Information Bulletin 20(1)
November, 1988 pp. 23-35 contains an article and bibliography by John
G. Doll of Cranston, Rhode Island titled "Cloth Maps of World War II".
 My correspondence with him indicates that he has been sudying this
unique map format for many years and seems very knowlegable on the
subject. Check it out.
