Probably many of us already know about this,
but just in case, I'm sending in this message to maps-l.
Wolfgang Crom kindly supplied the following information.

There is a preliminary version of BC at
http://bc.staatsbibliothek-berlin.de/ .
It is in German; the goal is have it
be in English, to make it international in nature.
In fall 2008, the database contained
all the titles from about the late 1980s, more than 24.000 items.
The persons working on this at the Staatsbibliothek zu
Berlin don't have any special funding for this work
and are producing the technical scripts on their own.

I just a few minutes ago did a sample
search and it works quite well.

When there is a final online version up,
it's possible that the hardcopy version may cease.
