Somewhere I read quite an interesting article about the mapmaker, 19th century
of Mammoth Cave maps, who was Black. Someone on maps-l might know the source of
the article. Not me. Sorry. Alice Hudson, Map Division, NYPL

Colleagues -

Well, just when you think you have heard most of the questions the students
return and ask some interesting things. We were just asked if there were a
list of black cartographers and not only am I unaware of such a list but am
unaware of any specific articles that I can think of. And, if not, this
certainly seems like a project that should be taken up and studied? Any
leads or information would be greatly appreciated.
