Hi, Matthew,

East View Cartographic's website (www.cartographic.com
<http://www.cartographic.com>) is powered by an ArcSDE/SQL database,
which indexed over 450,000 maps, around 700,000 satellite imageries and
over 7mil geographic names. And the database is growing everyday. But of
course, it does not index journal articles for now.

If you want to search for journal articles, the MetaCarta GeoIntel for
Petroleum (http://geointel.metacarta.com/) indexed lots of journal
articles related to the energy industry.

Hope it helps,
Xiaohong

    Dear List,
I am currently an MLS student at the University of Maryland.
In a current class we are assessing electronic reference resources and
databases. The topic of maps surfaced recently and I am wondering what
electronic resources and databases of maps are available and most
    popularly used.

Does a commercial database exist that indexes maps and map collections,
such as those that allow one to search for relevant journal articles?

    Thank you,
    Matthew Matthias
